Founded by Kimberly Whalen, the brand was born in 2021 from quiet moments at her mother's bedside, where design became a way to calm her anxiety and transform grief into beauty. Jewelry making evolved into a meditative process fueled by emotion. With influences from 15th-century paintings, rave and skateboarding culture, and the raw intimacy of body piercings, each piece reflects her balance of contrasts: hard and soft, tough yet delicate. As her vision and audience grew, the Weird Bits aesthetic naturally extended into shoes and clothing.
Today, Weird Bits' meticulously handcrafted pieces have drawn a devoted following of stylists, celebrities, and artists, forming a creative community that celebrates meaning over trend.

Kimberly Whalen
Kimberly Whalen founded Weird Bits after almost two decades in high fashion, most notably as VIP services and buyer for Marni's Los Angeles flagship. In her mid-twenties, she was entrusted to travel to Milan each season to curate collections that translated Marni's cerebral and eclectic design for the Los Angeles clientele. Her trained eye, honed through years of studying silhouettes, texture, and instinctual storytelling, is now fully channeled into Weird Bits.

Virginia Thornton is a wife, mom, creative entrepreneur, and part-time ceramicist who finds joy in making things — whether that's a home, a business, or something beautiful out of clay. Born and currently residing in Virginia, she holds a BS in Biological Sciences from Hampton University. She leads with heart, embraces the process, and believes in creating space for both growth and grace.
